The Ingestive Response Reflects Neural Dynamics in Gustatory Cortex

ABSTRACT: This study links gustatory cortical neural dynamics to the physical movements that define ingestive behavior. Using jaw-opener EMG, gustatory cortical ensemble recordings, and a machine-learning behavioral classifier, the work identifies ingestion-related movement subtypes and shows that their changing frequencies follow the cortical transition into a hedonic-value state.
